Restricted items:
Narcotics, Drugs
Skins, bones, feathers,etc. from animals on
the endangered species list.
Firearms that are fully automatic, or are
fitted with silencers, or have been adapted from a rifle or shotgun so that firearms is
less than 660 mm overall are prohibited entry to Canada. Handguns require permit.
Foodstuffs,plants and pets have special
restrictions.
Alcoholic Beverages/Tobacco:
Any shipper aged 16 or over may import duty
free up to 200 cigarettes and 50 cigars and 2lbs. tobacco. In addition, any person who
meets the age requirements of province through which they enter Canada, may bring in up to
40 oz. of liquor or wine or 24x12 can or bottles of beer or ale.
Duties:
Landed Immigrants are allowed duty and tax
free entry of HHG/PE provided these goods were in their ownership / possession and use
before their arrivals in Canada.
Work permit holders will be asked to leave a
deposit against duties and taxes of 20% of value up to a maximum deposit of $800(Canadian)
